Sir C V Raman

Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman, an Indian physicist was born on November 7, 1888 at Trichinopoly, India. He is known for discovery that when light traverses a transparent material, some of the light that is deflected changes in wavelength. This phenomenon is now called Raman scattering & is result of Raman effect. He was the recipient of Nobel Prize for Physics in 1930 & was the 1st Asian to receive a Nobel Prize in any branch of science.
